| The U500 adhesive should be brushed onto the fabric in all areas where fabric is in direct contact with solid structure, such as leading edges and fuel tank bays. This will help seal the fabric and to the structure and help prevent "wicking" of the fabric primer. |
The U500 adhesive should NOT be applied over all of the fabric. Only use it as an adhesive for the fabric and tape application. It is not designed to be a fabric filler. |
Before applying any fabric primer, be sure the fabric is completely clean and dry. Contamination, like fisheye, can occur if it isn't. |
When mixing the fabric primer, mix the components in the following order: SF6500 Primer Base, SF6600 Primer Catalyst, SF6700 Flex Agent, and the SF6800-Series Reducer. Adding the flex agent or the reducer before the catalyst can throw off the mixing ratios and drying time. Always add the catalyst to the primer base before any other components. |
| The first coat of fabric primer needs to be thinner and lighter than the second. This allows the primer to soak into the weave of the fabric. Spraying too heavily on the first coat can result in cracking and peeling problems later. |
There will be pinholing between the first and second coats of primer. This is normal. Wet sanding with a 320-grit and applying a heavier second coat of primer generall takes care of the problem. |
To achieve an even high gloss in your topcoat, wet sand with a 320-grit in between the first and second coats of paint. |
